August Painting

Recollection
8" x 8"
Crackle Paste, Acrylic Paint, & Dimensional Fabric Paint on Black Wooden Board

This wooden board began as one of those very mundane and cliche wall art pieces often found at home decor shops. When I saw that the paper piece that the art was printed on was peeling away from the board, I decided to tear back what I could of the paper and cover what remained with a paintable crackle paste. The crackle effect is only prominent in certain areas of the piece, but I'm satisfied with the effect overall.

Freefall

This piece actually began a very long time ago, probably two or three years at this point. All that I had done then was the basic shape of the feather and the blue spots and smudges in the background. Recently I decided to pick it up again and complete it, and I'm happy with how it turned out. The light green spots in the background and veins throughout the feather are also glow-in-the-dark/UV reactive, which adds extra interest I think.

Eye Trap
16" x 20"

I think this flower ended up looking a bit like a venus fly trap... My favorite parts of this piece I think are the tendrils of dimensional red dots and the thick application of black and deep purple in the background, done with a palette knife.

One Way Out

This one's meaning is still very buried for me subconsciously, I believe. The imagery came sort of automatically, and those things tend to make the most sense in retrospect.
