11"x12" Charcoal and Soft Pastel on Pastel Paper
Clementine Krucyznski, a main character from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, a favorite film of mine. The character's personality has always reminded me of myself. At the time of it's making I had blue hair as well and my professor, unfamiliar with the film, mistook it for a self portrait, though I look nothing like Kate Winslet.
Growing up, I guess my parents listened to a lot of Aqua. All the lyrics to their album Aquarium are permanently embedded in my memory.
This was the drawing that made me discover how much I enjoy working with white on black ground.
I didn't give much thought to it at the time, but the melting leaves of the money tree now seem to take on some kind of symbolism regarding the troubled economy.

5.5"x5.5" Oil Pastel and Melted Wax on Mat Board
The melted wax in this piece is actually melted Crayola crayons. I need to make more like this.
First Self Portrait. Also when I fell in love with Prismacolor colored pencils. I really dislike when people suggest this piece makes reference to James Cameron's Avatar, though they do quite often.
This remains one of my favorite works, and the largest all-pencil drawing I have attempted yet. I find elephants to be very admirable creatures.
