New Work

Coming Undone
9" x 12"
Graphite and Acrylic Paint on Paper

Just finished this morning. Random doodles from my brain.

 Silly Lilies
12" x 12"
Oil on Canvas

Started out as just a photo-realistic painting of lilies.  That was far too boring.

Lovestruck
16" x 24"
Acrylic & Dimensional Fabric Paint on Canvas

Layers of colors.  From ugly thoughts come beautiful images.

Handmade Business Cards

I decided to embark on a little adventure to create my own business cards.  I began with a batch of 20, and of these 20 I have 12 left.  Each one is hand cut, painted, and written.

Experimenting: Scale

I've already had my adventures with larger-scaled painting, so now I wanted to see the smaller side of things.

Eruption
3" x 3"
Acrylic on Canvas

Flutter
3" x 3"
Acrylic on Canvas

Inferno
3" x 3"
Acrylic on Canvas

Symbiosis
3" x 3"
Acrylic on Canvas

Reach
4" x 5"
Acrylic and UV Reactive Dimensional Fabric Paint on Canvas

After someone noted that this looked like a deformed hand, I added some veins to the "hand" and "arm" in UV reactive glow-in-the-dark green paint. If I can figure out how to photograph it well in the dark, I will, but take my word for it; it's pretty cool.

Experimenting: Media

One of the things I wanted to do with my time this summer was experiment with media I don't often use.  I also wanted to try and play with a more graphic kind of aesthetic style and see what would come of it.  The following few works are the results of this experimenting.

Swim Free
8.5" x 11"
Ink and Watercolor on Paper

This, starting as just a doodled sketch, evolved to be the first of a small series of ink and watercolor drawings.  I really love the bold contrast of the solid black ink with the flowing, light watercolor.

Inky
6.5" x 7.5"
Ink and Watercolor on Paper

My obsession with tentacles coming out, again.  And the face ended up looking a bit like a self portrait, unintentionally. It also sort of reminds me of old paintings of deities done in a purposefully flat style, which I find pretty fun about it.

Pretty Dead
8.5" x 11"
Ink and Watercolor on Paper

She's pretty wicked. I like her.

Lucyfur
~6.5" x 9"
Watercolor on Paper

All watercolor, this one. Steven's cat's name is Lucy, and I sometimes affectionately call her Lucifer, or Lucyfur as the title suggests. She has the most gorgeous eyes I think I've ever seen, lime green and golden.
